INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS
SR 20 (US 27/Apalachee Parkway) at SR 265 (Magnolia Drive)
The project implemented TBG’s proposed concept to relocate the eastbound and westbound right turns from the adjacent frontage road to the SR 20 mainline to make it a more conventional intersection in order to improve safety. The project involved widening, drainage, signing, pavement marking, intersection lighting and signal improvements. TBG supported the District with Utility Coordination and Public Involvement efforts.
SR 77 (Main Street) at CR 273 (South Boulevard)
The project also included pavement resurfacing, addition of curb, gutter and sidewalk along CR 273 and SR 77, upgrade of the drainage system along CR 273 to alleviate flooding, signing, pavement marking, replacement of the existing strain pole signal with mast arms, addition of intersection lighting for pedestrians. The project required right-of-way acquisition, and design challenges included contamination within the intersection, involvement with numerous utilities, and avoidance of impacts to adjacent businesses. TBG supported the District with Utility Coordination and Public Involvement efforts.
SR 263 (US 319/Capital Circle) at Stoneler Road
The project included friction course resurfacing, reconstruction of paved shoulders, reconstruction of curb and gutter to realign a right turn lane, minor drainage improvements, and signing and pavement marking upgrades. The project resulted in wetland impacts and required acquisition of a Temporary Construction Easement. TBG supported the District with Utility Coordination efforts.
